Unpopulated CRFs (meaning blank CRFs, without any Study Subject data) can be printed either as individual forms or as part of a collection of forms of a Study Event, Study Site, or Study. As of OpenClinica 3.1.4, rendering of printable forms has been much improved. Below are the various print scenarios and how you can navigate to them in OpenClinica, with some tips on how to get the best results when printing.
Print Single CRF
There are two main navigation paths in which you would arrive at the View CRF screen:
A) Navigate Through Study, Site, and Study Event
B) Navigate directly to CRF via Tasks->Administration->CRFs menu
In both cases you will arrive at the View CRF page where the print icon is located in line with the other CRF version details and options listed in the row.
Print Study Case Book
1) Choose Tasks->Build Study
2) Click on the View button in the Create Event Definitions row.
3) Click on the Print icon on the top right of the form.
Print Study Site Case Book
1) From main Study Details page click on the View Button of the site that you wish to print.
2) To the right of the View Site Event Definitions heading is the print icon.
Print Study Event Case Book
1) Choose Tasks->Build Study
2) Click on the View button in the Create Event Definitions row.
3) Click on the View button in the desired Study Event in the Event listing table
4) Click on the Print icon on the top right of the form.
Printing Tips
1) First View Print Job in Print Preview Window.
This allows you to see how it will look and will allow you to adjust the size, layout, and other aspects prior to sending it to the printer.
3) Test out print run by saving the print job as a PDF. This will allow you to see changes applied during the print setup process that may not be apparent or visible in the print preview screen.
4) Enable “Print Background Images”
This will allow the shading behind certain elements such as section headers to show up on the printed page.
5) First try with “Ignore Scaling and Shrink To Fit Page Width” since this will prevent pages that would otherwise be too wide for the printed page. If this setting makes the resulting output too small in size due to its effort to shrink all of the content to fit the witdh of the page you can remedy this via a combination of tactics:
a) Turn off the Shrink To Fit option
b) Try the wider Landscape document orientation
c) Isolate the unusally wide pages and resize and print these seperately.
d) Use manual scaling in Print Preview dialog box.
